Open House at the Headquarters Building

October 15, 2014

October 24, 2014 from 4pm-5pm

The Newport Historical Society will host a community Open House at 82 Touro Street. All are invited attend this free event to review the worksite and project plans of the Resource Center Rehabilitation.

To accommodate the ongoing construction work, the Society has closed access to its library and collections resources. The Society will strive to keep the closure as brief as possible.

“We understand how vital our collections resources are to the community, to scholars and to our mission,” explains the Society’s Executive Director Ruth Taylor. “During this temporary transition, we encourage everyone to utilize our online resources, such as the Gladys database and our many finding aids, which are available at NewportHistory.org, and to visit the Museum of Newport History.”

The improvements include a new entrance, restructured staff parking, upgraded collections storage, and an elevator for handicap accessibility to the library, along with other renovations to modernize the historic property. Follow the building progress on the Society’s social media sites at: facebook.com/NewportHistory, and on Twitter and Instagram @NewportHistory. “Anyone with questions about the building plans should contact us,” Taylor concludes.
