September 1 @ 9:00 am - 12:00 pm
Bring Your Pets to Newport for Free ‘Bark Ranger’ Event
On Sunday, September 1st from 9am to 12pm, animal lovers and pet owners are invited to Newport for a free B.A.R.K Ranger, P.U.R.R.K Ranger community event on the lawn of the Great Friends Meeting House. All animals will receive a free collar charm and bandana after being “sworn in” as an honorary ranger, while supplies last, and are invited to have a professional photograph taken at no cost by local photographer Jessica Pohl.
This event is hosted by the Newport Historical Society and the Potter League for Animals, with free programming provided by the National Park Service (NPS) Washington-Rochambeau Revolutionary Route National Historic Trail. Animals will be “sworn in” as honorary rangers by the NPS for adhering to key values like picking up pet waste, keeping pets leashed, and respecting wildlife.
This event is rain or shine.
Representatives from the Potter League will also have educational materials available on the importance of spaying and neutering your pets. To learn more about these community partners, visit www.PotterLeague.org, and www.nps.gov/waro.
