Celebrating the Holidays in Colonial Newport
On Saturday November 28th and Saturday December 19th, visit the 1697 Wanton-Lyman-Hazard House and meet a historical interpreter portraying Polly Wanton. Polly will discuss life during the American Revolution and share insight on how members of Newport’s colonial community recognized the holidays. The 2pm event will include a tour of the house, which will be lightly decorated for the holidays in the colonial fashion.
Afterwards enjoy the ambiance and history of the 1673 White Horse Tavern with a tour and refreshments. Hear the stories that are often untold, then sip hot cider and sample a light snack by candlelight in front of an open fire as colonial visitors once did.
