Meet the 2014 Buchanan/Burnham Interns

July 16, 2014

Jasmine Souza, a senior studying Textiles, Merchandising and Design at the University of Rhode Island, is working on textiles collections projects including rehousing, conserving and dating objects in the NHS collection.

Maggie Stack, a Ph. D. student at the University of Connecticut’s History Department, is collaborating with NHS Buchanan/Burnham Fellow Don Johnson on the development of Revolution House. She welcomes the challenge to bring Newport’s dramatic history and recent scholarship together in an interpretive space that will both entertain and educate. She has also been researching the education of American midshipmen in the antebellum period using the diaries of Charles Hunter in the NHS collection.
