Newport History Bytes Book Talk Rescheduled for April 30th

February 17, 2015

Due to the winter weather, the Newport Historical Society has postponed its Thursday February 19, 2015 Newport History Bytes book talk for Thursday April 30, 2015.

“Given the extreme winter weather conditions we have decided to reschedule the talk for the spring. We want to ensure safe driving and parking for attendees,” the Society’s Associate Director Ingrid Peters explains. “In the meantime we encourage everyone to follow the History Bytes blog on our website for the latest entries.”

Published in November 2014,  Newport History Bytes: 50 Fast Facts features the people, events and episodes in Newport’s history with an emphasis on connections to popular culture, current events and American history at large. It is illustrated with photographs and images of objects and documents from the NHS collections and was praised as “Newport’s history in tasty bytes” by The Newport Daily News.

The rescheduled talk will take place on Thursday April 30, 2015 at 5:30pm at the Colony House on Washington Square. Join members of the NHS staff as they discuss the inspiration for the blog and book, Newport’s notable history and its connections to the wider world. The presentation provides a behind-the-scenes look at the research and selection process. A book signing will follow the discussion. General admission costs $5 per person, $1 for Newport Historical Society members and active duty military with ID. Click here to RSVP online or call 401-841-8770.
