Charter Books and the Newport Historical Society present Pulitzer Prize winner and #1 New York Times bestselling author Rick Atkinson, author of The Fate of the Day: The War for America, Fort Ticonderoga to Charleston, 1777-1780.
In this special event taking place at Newport’s Colony House only a few weeks after the 250th anniversary of “The Shot Heard Round the World,” Atkinson will speak about the tense middle years of the American Revolution, when George Washington’s army fought on the knife edge between victory and defeat. He will also discuss Newport’s occupation by the British army and the Battle of Rhode Island, which is covered extensively in The Fate of the Day.
Interview and discussion followed by Q&A and book signing. Ticket purchase will include a signed copy of The Fate of the Day, but additional signed copies as well as Atkinson’s other titles will be available for purchase.
