Island Cemetery is the final resting place of important and intriguing people, many from Newport’s Gilded Age. During this guided walking tour across the cemetery’s scenic grounds, meet Maude Wetmore and hear about her family and her home, Château Sur Mer. Some of the family names will be familiar, like Belmont and Perry, but you’ll also meet members of the Rives, King and Marin families. The tour will last approximately 90 minutes and is presented by the Newport Historical Society in partnership with Island Cemetery. All proceeds benefit both organizations..
