This April, the Newport Historical Society is pleased to host a library workshop that details the application process and membership in patriotic and hereditary organizations such as the Sons / Daughters of the American Revolution, The Society of Colonial Dames / Colonial Wars and the Society of Mayflower Descendants.

During the April 8th workshop, which runs from 2pm to 4pm, attendees will learn about the different societies and the varying eligibility requirements and the steps needed to prove direct, lineal descent from Revolutionary soldiers, founders of towns and passengers on the Mayflower, as well as others, such as tavern keepers, colonial clergy and illegitimate royalty. Attendees will also receive an information packet with details to help guide them through the application processes.

Reservations are required as space is limited. Admission costs $25 per person, $15 for Newport Historical Society members, and the program will take place at the Newport Historical Society headquarters, 82 Touro Street, Newport, RI.
