18th Century French Fashions: A Newport Historical Society History Space Event

July 17, 2021 @ 10:00 am - 2:00 pm

$3 – $5

The French have long been known for their fashionable clothing, and the 18th century is no exception. Join living historians as they demonstrate 18th century fashions that are traditionally French such as the “Belle Poule”, a lady’s hairstyle topped by a reproduction tall ship. Women’s clothing such as the sacque back gown will be featured alongside attire typically worn by French soldiers. This program is part of the Newport Historical Society’s series of 2021 programs highlighting Newport’s French occupation during the Revolutionary War.

18th Century French Fashions takes place at the Colony House, located at the top of Washington Square. Admission costs $5 per person, $4 for NHS members and military, and $3 for children ages 5-12. A combo ticket is available that includes admission for this program and the French in Newport walking tour which costs $18 per person, $12 for NHS members and military, and $6 for children ages 5-12.
