Gain a new appreciation for how tools and technology affect how our homes look and feel. Tom Paske will share some “nuts and bolts” of old houses, specifically how building materials and technological methods changed during the 18th and 19th centuries. He will explain the process from working with raw material to wooden floors, clapboards, roofs, moldings and more.

Mr. Paske, an Architectural Preservation Consultant from Westfield, MA, has an extensive knowledge of old buildings gained through years of field experience, particularly as a restoration contractor. He has co-taught at the Building Archaeology Field School at Roger Williams University.

From Tree to Floorboard is co-sponsored by the Historical Society and the Newport Restoration Foundation.
